President Obama wants his face on Mount Rushmore

Obama's craving to be carved - the president has expressed his desire to be engraved in the mighty mount Rushmore

President Obama has had a long run - opinions on whether it's been good or not may be as numerous as the population of our nation, but one thing is clear,

his presidency is fast coming to a close.

Now, at the dusk of his time in the Oval Office, he seems to be showing signs that he wants his presidency to echo in posterity. At a pressconference held

at the White House this morning, the president addressed the situation in Syria, ISIS progression and the current conflict in Yemen, but international quarrels is

not what drew gasps from the audience. Before concluding his speech, this is what he had to say.

"Americans, as you all know, my time in this house is nearing an end. In a little over a year, my successor will be standing in this very spot. I have been

thinking a lot about what comes next. I think I have served this nation well, as well as any other man and I would like to leave a lasting impression on this country,

one that cannot be erased by slander or critique, one that injects me in the very fabric of history - therefore I am hereby expressing my desire to have my face on

Mount Rushmore."

The statement has caused quite a stirr in social media, many are supportive of his wish, others condemn it as an egoistical and self-important expostulation.

A user on Twitter who describes himself as a "red-blooded American" had this to say

"The audacity, this guy has ruined our once great nation and now he wants to be alongside our founding fathers. Pathetic"

Further updates on what consequences his speech will have are coming soon, so stay tuned.
