Underground artist unearthed - Banksy reveals HER identity.

Elusive English street artist Banksy's real identity is now known - this is after a woman walked into a police station in Bristol holding a sign saying "Art could never be a crime BOYS!" and then explaining to officers that she was indeed the controversial, heretofore incognito street artist. At first the police figured it was a prank, but then, as she "provided sufficient evidence to support her claim", they grew more convinced that she was being truthful.

Banksy is a pseudonymous English graffiti artist, political activist, film director, and painter who has been active since the early 90’s. Her satirical street art and subversive epigrams combine dark humour with graffiti executed in a distinctive stencilling technique. Her works of political and social commentary have been featured on streets, walls, and bridges of cities throughout the world.

Banksy’s real identity turns out to be that of Catherine Kinsey, a 34 year old accountant and mother of two from Bristol. She insisted that police do not show her face in communications with the media, but other than that, her identity is fully divulged. Last year it was reported by many sources that Banksy’s real identity was that of Paul Horner, a story that later turned out to be a hoax, this time, police are convinced it’s real. "We have been given hours of video depicting Kinsey actually creating the street art and we're convinced that this footage could not have been faked - all the dates seem accurate." says Officer William Connelly of the Bristol Police. Banksy’s activities are illegal under British law, but experts do not believe that the act of turning herself in should not be seen as one of of surrender, but one of defiance. Fellow street artist Rudolpho Cabrás, a man who's been following Banksy AKA Kinsey's activity since the beginning and who feels a "personal connection" to the artist had this to say about today's events:

"Banksy revealing her identity and turning herself into the police is not her giving up, it's a very public way to declare war on current graffiti laws and stand up for the right to express yourself"

Kinsey has not yet made a public announcement concerning the big reveal, but it is expected to come sooner than later”

"She has all of the world's eyes on her now, she's bound to get her message out in one way or another, whether it's with art or with words."

The controversial artist will remain detained until law enforcement is able to build a case with which to charge her, if they're unable, Banksy will be free to create her art once more.
