I feed my 9 year old sister KFC every day because I want her to become a plus size model
Cassidy Boon is a twenty year old feminist who lives in Brisbane
As feminist and a body-positive fat-activist I recognise that fat is beautiful. For far too long, the White Hetero-Patriarchy has set the standard for what's beautiful and has blasted images of skinny, emaciated and frankly, fatphobic models onto our retinas. Beauty has been hijacked and for a long time women have been confined to this narrow box where there's only one way to be beautiful. But things are starting to change, the body tide is turning. It's become more and more common for magazines to feature plus size models. These are women who're strong, fierce and who won't apologize for not being a cookie cutter shape. There's even a plus size supermodel now, Tess Holiday, a big, fabulous girl who's kicking ass and taking names all over the fashion world. Tess is paving the way for a new era of body positivity, fat acceptance and celebration of big, curvy bodies. As a feminist, I do my best in keeping up to speed with feminist trends and ideas and sometimes I make sure I get my family involved. That’s why I’m doing something for my sister. I want my sister to be a part of the fat acceptance world when she grows up and that's why I choosing to feed her KFC every day.
That’s right. I want the absolute best for my sister Abby and that's why I want her to become a prominent plus sized model. So in order to secure her future I’ve started making some changes to her lifestyle. For about two months now, I've been taking Abby to KFC to get her daily dose of fried chicken. She absolutely loves it and never tires of the colonels spicy wings. She has already gained about 12kg (25 pounds) and I can see her becoming bigger and better fast. Now she’s kind of out of breath when she walks up the stairs and nothing gives me more satisfaction than seeing that all our hard work is paying off. Sometimes she says she doesn’t want to eat KFC, but then I just promise to buy her a dress or something and she’s happy to go. You don’t understand how important what I’m doing actually is. It takes a lot of responsibility and forethought for a young woman like myself to take care of her little sister and set up her career in this way, and I’m spending all my own money on the chicken wings. What I'm doing, when it comes down to it, is preparing her for a life of glamour and self-love. She already has a beautiful face but I'm giving her the extra edge, (and pounds) that will ensure her a place in the new, body-positive movement. When she grows up to be a beautiful, big woman and becomes a plus sized model because of it, she'll thank me for the time I put into giving her a headstart in her career.
And for all of you fatphobic people who think that I am abusing her because I'm giving her fatty foods, you can just shut it. The truth is that there is no correlation between being fat and being unhealthy. There are fat people who’re really healthy and there are plenty of skinny people who’re sick. The only people who want you to believe that obesity is connected to diseases such as heart problems or cancer are phony doctors and dieticians who sell you their disgusting non-nutritious shakes AND YOU’RE EATING IT ALL UP, literally. There’s this huge conspiracy to put fat people down so that they will feel bad about themselves and buy shitty weight-loss products. I, as a fat-positive, body-positive feminist, realize that this is the way it all works.
So yeah my sister is turning into a beautiful big young woman and it’s all thanks to me (and about a hundred buckets of KFC), but I am really proud to be taking her on this journey. We have our ups and downs and she doesn’t really understand why I’m making her eat KFC all the time, but one day she will be able to look at me and say “Thank You Cassidy, thank you for making me this big”
If you want to discuss this journey I’m taking Abbey on, tweet under #VeryBigSister , maybe we can become friends J
