But the story doesn’t end there – no – this morning, one of Sepp Blatter’s representatives made a statement that has shocked the video game world. This is what he had to say - This scandal is unprecedented in FIFA history and has created such a strain on the organisation that its dissolution feels ominously near. We have decided, for better or for worse to cancel FIFA 16 and all future FIFA Football games effective immediately. There will be no FIFA 16, no FIFA 17, no FIFA 18 and so on. We, along with EA sports deem it financially improbable that any of these games should be feasible after all that has happened and as an organisation we no longer feel worthy of creating such a symbolic video game. I am sure there will be other big football games in the future, but they won’t be made by FIFA or EA sports. The news has sent shockwaves through the football community. The first FIFA Football game came out in 1993 and is one of the most successful video game series ever to have existed , with hundreds of millions of copies sold worldwide. The cancellation of the gaming will have a big, long lasting impact on the gaming community. We spoke to Hugh Myrone Gaines, an representative of EA Sports who has been involved in the creation of the games for more than two decades, this is what he had to say: - It is with utmost grief and sadness that we have to announce the news. The FIFA Football gaming series has been one of the most important gaming franchises in recent history and it’s very sad to have to see it go – but at the same time, we feel it’s the only realistic thing to do seeing as the scandals have tarnished the brand and our willingness to work with FIFA as a whole.
