First transgender person in the white house – the daughter of President Obama comes out as transgender

Only days after Caitlyn Jenner (formerly Bruce Jenner) revealed her female self in Vanity Fair Magazine, there’s been another, major celebrity trans-reveal. This time it doesn’t concern an athlete, or a reality TV-star, but someone in the White House. In a press release issued from the White House this morning, President Obama’s youngest daughter addressed the nation - There is something I have to tell you all about myself. This is very difficult to me and I am only able to gather enough courage to do this because I was inspired by Caitlyn Jenner - I hope you will treat me with the same respect with which you treated her. I am transgender. I have always been. Ever since I was a little girl I’ve felt different. I’ve felt like there was someone else inside me just struggling to come out, but I have supressed him – I haven’t been myself and I haven’t been honest with any of you. I am not Sasha and I never have been, I am Jacob, Jacob Obama and that’s what I will go by in the future. Jacob Obama then explained that he is undergoing Hormone Replacement Therapy and that he will undergo Gender Replacement Surgeries in the near future. - It’s tough – there’s a lot of hormones and stuff to take, but I am beginning to feel different, more like a boy, more like my true self. I will also have some plastic surgery performed on me to make me look more like myself, but I have already started wearing boy’s clothes. It’s such a relief to be able to walk around like myself and not have to hide anymore. …And as for his parent’s reaction? - Mom and dad have been the best ever about this. I think they’ve known for a long time and weren’t that shocked when I came out to them back in April. My dad being the president and is going to help in my transition because I think he can support me not only on a personal level, but a national level. We need to make trans people more visible and he will make sure that happens. I am proud of him and he is proud of me The president himself made a small comment in the statement in support of his (now) son. - Jacob has my full support in whatever he does, I loved him as my daughter and I will love him as my son The announcement has shocked the nation, with many people unwilling to believe the story after a hoax publication last year claimed that Michelle Obama was born a man, but this time, the reports are solid and the press release is an official one from the White House. Whether this announcement will have any political effects remains to be seen, but one thing is certain, this is extraordinary.
