From Pariah to President? - Josh Duggar announces that he's running for president in 2020 The '19 kids and counting-scandal' can scarcely have slipped past any American. The story about Christian family father Josh Duggar molesting 5 children, four of whom were his sisters, in 2002 and 2003 when he was a minor himself, broke last month and has been the talk of nation ever since. With 19 kids and counting cancelled, many fans of the show are outraged and are calling for a renewal, while most are simply aghast at what has happened. But now, there's been an astonishing turn of events in the whole affair - in an Arkansas radio interview this morning that was supposed to be about the allegations, Duggar made a startling announcement, this is what he had to say: - As all of America knows, I am deepy sorry for all the wrongdoings that I have committed and I know they are unforgivable. This scandal has put huge pressure on our family and has caused our lives to become a turmoil for weeks. Some good has come of this however, I have found a reinvigorated interest in justice and politics. As you know I have been engaged in politics before, but these few weeks have really intensified my zeal. Therefore, I am now announcing, that I will run for president in 2020.

Duggar continued - Now I know some people will denounce this decision and be utterly against it considering my past, but I wish people can begin to let the past be the past and look to my political ideas and not the actions of the 14 year old me. I know I will have a lot of support when the time comes and I am convinced that I will do the republican party a great favour.

The announcement has been met with both positive and negative response. Republicans like Mike Huckabee, Chris Christie and Ted Cruz have all come out in support of Duggar, with Ted Cruz stating: - Sometimes you need to forget and forgive, and this is one of those times. What Josh Duggar did at 14 should not ruin his chances of becoming a president. This is a free country and we are known to forgive those who trespass. I wish Josh good luck in the 2020 election, unless I am in office of course!

- It's a disgrace that Mr Duggar tries to exploit his time in the media spotlight for molesting children to launch his political career.
