Man robs bank by releasing 350 pounds of ants into building, claims to be Ant Man

Chicago, IL – A highly astonishing robbery has taken place in the Central Business district of Chicago. At 14:54pm, a large truck was parked outside PNC bank and three men exited the vehicle. Two of the men carried a large box, tailing the third man, who was wearing some type of “superhero-looking” costume. Upon entering the bank, the men emptied the box and what customers and staff witnessed next was something out of a nightmare. Hundreds of pounds of live ants surged out into the room, covering the floors and walls in black, sending everyone into a state of panic. Then, the man costume-dressed man, produced a shotgun and forced one of the tellers who had tried to escape the sea of ants to help open the vaults. Only minutes later, the three men escaped with loot worth millions of dollars, leaving millions of ants crawling around the premises.

- It was the most insane thing I have ever seen – I still can’t believe it happened.

says Cara Bryson, one of the tellers at the scene

It was like something out of a movie – one minute everything was normal and the next, a tsunami of ants washed over the entire bank. The man with the costume, who appeared to be the leader, shouted that he was “the Ant Man” and that this was his “revenge”. At first I thought I had accidentally entered a movie set, but then he took out the shotgun and started shooting. I just ran as fast as I could, squishing thousands of ants underneath me. It was the most disgusting thing I’ve ever experienced. I was so scared

Yes you read that right. The leader of the three robbers called himself “The Ant Man”, like something out of a Marvel comic. Coincidentally, a movie about the Ant Man superhero is in the works and now the police are attributing the crime to some kind of super hero fanatic who couldn’t keep his fantasies in the comic books. - This man is obviously an ostentatious showman who found an efficient way to cause a distraction, rob a bank and get a whole heap of publicity for it. I have absolutely no idea where he got what we estimate to be 350 pounds of Ants from, but that is obviously the most glaring lead that we’re going to follow. This is an unprecedented case and it feels like something out of a movie, but we will try to stay as professional as possible while tracking down this superhero maniac.

says Hugh Myrone Gaines, the first police officer at the bizarre scene

The bank and the surrounding block have now been closed down and will be fumigated with anti-insect gas, but it is expected to take weeks before the ants can be fully removed from the area. This story is still breaking but we will update you on further details as they develop.
