Ted Cruz: vegetarian women can not get pregnant

Too green to breed? Ted Cruz claims you should eat meat because vegitarianism makes you infertile

Ted Cruz made a controversial statement at a conference for Public Health that was held this morning in Dallas, Texas. Polticians were discussing the obesity crisis and were deliberating about what measures can be implemented in order to make residents of the state healthier and slimmer while reducing health care costs at the same time. After many speeches wherein the words 'greener lunches' and 'more exercise' were uttered, it came to senator Ted Cruz's turn to speak. This is what he had to say:

"You all sound like you want people in this state to become god damned vegetarians. Well let me tell you something about vegetarian women: they're completely infertile, there's not a single vegetarian woman who's producing healthy babies in this country. Why? Because it's impossible to create life while eating all the mumbo jumbo tofu stuff. You're not getting enough protein in your bodies so the eggs don't get made the right way. Juicy steaks make for good, healthy babies. Vegetarians, also known as rabbits, can go at it like rabbits but they won't make a single baby. There's a higher chance of a virgin birth than a veggo birth!"

The statement has caused quite a stir online, seeing as vegetarian women are obviously able to bear children in the same manner as non-vegetarians. Many are calling the senators comments ignorant, sexist and even insane. Where Ted Cruz has gotten his information from is unknown, but he should probably fire that source.

Here's the reaction of a Twitter user upon hearing the senators comments: "This man is running for president and he doesn't know basic biological fact, unbelievable #stunned"

This gaffe will probably not be of advantage to Ted Cruz in his running to be president, but many republicans are defending him.
