George Zimmerman donates $500 000 to Dylann Roofs legal fund

Big money for the murderer – George Zimmerman donates a substantial amount of money to Charleston Shooters legal fund

It’s been only 11 days since the horrific Charleston Shooting took place in South Carolina, killing 9 black people. The aftermath of the attack is a chaotic one; race relations are coming into question, gun laws are being scrutinized and tensions are rising between the two political camps. Now, something that will no doubt fuel the flames further has occurred – George Zimmerman, the man who was acquitted of the murder of black teen Trayvon Martin in 2012, has donated half a million dollars to the legal fund of Dylann Roof. In a Florida radio interview this morning, George Zimmerman announced that he had made a huge donation to the alleged killer’s legal fund. This is what he had to say:

- I know what it’s like having Black America’s hateful eyes on me, so I can sympathize with the guy. Now, I don’t think he was in his right mind when he did this and that’s why I’m going to do everything in my power to strengthen the insanity case – he’s just a kid you know, a kid who took a wrong turn. I have too been accused murder and even though I was always an innocent man, I know what it’s like being funnelled through our defective legal system and put on the stands for something you didn’t do or something you didn’t mean to do. I have full respect for Dylann Roof and hope that he will recover from his mental illness as soon as possible – white America is not to blame for this! Zimmerman’s money apparently comes from having appeared at many public events since he gained celebrity status in 2012 after having killed Trayvon Martin. He claims that the money is a huge chunk of what he owns, but that Dylann Roof “deserves it”.

Dylann Roof has apparently welcomed the donation, claiming that George Zimmerman is a hero of his. The Dylann Roof legal fund has now soared to a whopping 5 million dollars, most of it streaming in from conservatives who want to support the idea of #HeritageNotHate. Roofs legal help are stating that the money will be quintessential in getting Roof acquitted of murder.

Zimmerman’s donation has awoken outrage online, one twitter user had this to say: - I knew he was guilty all along, how the hell can he support a murderer, it makes no sense. What’s happening?

It still remains to be seen whether Zimmerman’s money will have any impact on the court case, but if it does not, It has only worked to alienate Zimmerman further from the political left.
